Wood Flooring Samples – Sample Solid and Engineered Before You Buy

The great thing about ordering wood flooring online at Wood and Beyond is that you can see and touch it before you commit to ordering it. It is understandable that some people are wary about ordering wood flooring online. It’s all too easy to make anything look great on an image on a website, even if the product isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

At Wood and Beyond we pride ourselves on the quality of the flooring we sell and the accuracy of the information we give. But we also know that our customers like to be completely sure before they commit to a truck load of wood flooring arriving outside their door. So, what can we do to help? The first thing we do is have a showroom as well as our online store. It’s in Golders Green in London. But for anyone who isn’t within travelling distance of Golders Green, we send out speedy samples for you to check out in the comfort of your own home.

When you’re browsing through our website and you see a floor you like, all you need to do is click through to the product detail page. Once you get there, you’ll see a big yellow button that says ‘Order FREE sample’ this will take you to a shopping cart that allows you to order up to 3 free samples.

We know that when you order online you don’t want to wait forever to get what you’ve ordered, so we send samples by fast post and in most cases they arrive the following day. This means that if you place an order right now for free samples, you could be sitting looking at them in your home tomorrow at this time.

When you get your free samples, we just know you’ll be impressed by the quality of the wood flooring we sell, but beyond that, what should you be looking for?

The first thing is the colour. Is the colour of the floor what you had in mind? If not, then you’re unlikely to go beyond that point with that particular sample. But assuming you like the colour, it’s important to look at it in the light that it will be surrounded by where you plan to lay it. You should lay the flooring sample over your current floor and see how it looks at various times of day, in natural light as well as how it looks in the artificial light you’re planning to have in the room after the floor has been laid.

The next thing you should be checking out is the feel of the sample. It may sound odd, but at Wood and Beyond we’d recommend you get your shoes and socks off and have a feel of what the sample is like under foot. Take this a step further and stand on a sample for a lengthy period – for example whilst preparing a meal or washing the dishes. That way you’ll have a good idea of how you will feel if you bring this flooring option into your life.

And thereafter, give it the real life test. Beat it up a bit with grubby shoes, spill a few things on it, drop a couple of sharp objects on it. Try to really put it to the test. That way you’ll have the confidence that the floor you have in your hand will be great under foot.

And finally, try to be organised about your testing. If you’ve taken all 3 of our samples – put each to the same test and make a note of all the outcomes. Score the floors out of 10 if you can and that way you’ll be more likely to reach the right decision.

If you’ve already ordered samples and you’re still uncertain about which option to choose, why not get in touch so we can help you? At Wood and Beyond we have decades of experience, so will be able to point you in the right direction once we know what your priorities are.
