White washed timber flooring has been ‘in vogue’ for a very, very long time. Featuring highly in every sort of home from beachside properties through to designer lofts, in many ways you can’t go wrong with a white washed timber floor. Add it to a cutting-edge design-led interior or mix it with shabby chic, no matter what the season, you’ll feel as if you’ve been swept away to a sun-kissed island in a remote corner of the world when you make this choice. But what sorts of white washed timber floors are available and where might they work best?

This Natural Engineered Oak Brushed White UV Oiled timber flooring is great for pretty much any room in the home. With a thickness of 14/3, it’s also suitable for use over under floor heating. As any regular reader of this blog will know, at Wood and beyond we’re big fans of engineered timber flooring because it looks just like the real thing but has a whole host of advantages up it’s sleeve that makes it in many ways more versatile than solid timber flooring. For example, you can use it with confidence in kitchens and bathrooms where the conditions would normally play havoc with solid wood flooring. This particular white washed timber floor is particularly appealing for rooms that get a lot of natural light and lovers of a natural look. What’s more, it’s currently on offer at half price, so what are you waiting for?

If a UV filter isn’t a priority to you, then this Prime Engineered Oak timber floor that’s been brushed and white oiled truly is top of the range but with a budget price tag. It has a really warm feel to it even though it’s white and would look stunning in pretty much any room. However, our particular favourite location for this floor is either a lounge or a bedroom. Deck them out with muted shades of soft furnishings and light coloured wood – heavenly! Think palettes of lilacs, pinks, beiges, off-whites and pale blues and you’ll get the drift. Think old, solid wood furniture that’s been distressed with an ageing paint effect and you’ll start to really get an idea of what we have in mind. All of that said, this flooring is so very versatile you could choose it for the smallest or the biggest room in the home with confidence. In fact, we’ve even had clients who were brave enough to choose this option to run through their entire home; and the effect was stunning!

If you want a slightly darker feel to your room while still enjoying the white washed timber flooring look, you might like this Select Engineered Oak Fired timber floor that’s been brushed and white oiled. While still giving you the beach-kissed feel, this flooring adds real depth to any room. With an almost zebra effect to the grain, this timber flooring will compliment any style of interior from formal, to highly laid back. Mix this with old style furniture or with modern designer pieces to your heart’s content and we just know you won’t tire of it. If you choose this solution, to add light to your room, give some thought to your wall colours and if possible, keep them light and reflective so the floor is set off to the max and you don’t lose the feeling of volume in your interior.
