Sunny White, Paris White, Polar White Wood Flooring Is There A Difference?

White wood flooring is a highly sought after flooring option right now and for anyone who is just at the beginning of their journey in the search for their perfect white wood floor you could be forgiven for thinking a white floor is a white floor!  If this is your idea, you really couldn’t be more wrong.  In fact there are a whole host of white wood flooring options and which you choose will depend entirely on the look you want to achieve and your own personal taste.

What you need to bear in mind when you’re shopping for a white wood floor is that flooring manufacturers, like car manufacturers give their floors names that they consider best describes and best sells their product.  Sexy and alluring terms can be as easily applied to floor colours as they can to chocolate bars, so knowing the effect you want to create will help you cut through the marketing and get down to the elements of each white wood floor that you like and dislike.

One thing to bear in mind, like all things internet, the actual colour of white wood floor produced on your screen will depend on the lighting used when taking the photo, the quality of the original image and the settings and quality of your monitor.  It’s for this reason that we recommend that you take advantage of our flooring sample service to help you make sure your choice is the right one.

Here are just some examples of how different white flooring can look:

Sunny white

This sunny white flooring is an example of a range of sunny white options and you would be forgiven for asking whether or not this flooring is even white.  Very much a white oak colour, this floor creates a highly natural looking, very light oak effect and would be ideally suited in any room of the home.

Paris white

Again, this Paris white wood flooring is an extremely natural looking, warm light oak colour rather than appearing to be actually white.  An option that lets you stay within the range of natural wood colours, you can be sure that this flooring will never date or look out of place.

Polar white

This polar white flooring is truly white and is really well named in our view.  With an almost icy look to it, it is virtually pearly in its effect and has a very slight shine to it although it is brushed and UV lacquered.  If you’re looking for a real statement white wood floor, this is a superb option.

Brushed and white oiled

If you’re hoping to sniff out a really natural looking wood floor that has a definite white feel to it, then one of our brushed and white oiled floors is likely to tick all your boxes.  With the benefit of having been brushed to open up the grain, this floor still looks like natural wood but has a real sun-bleached look to it.

White washed

White washed floor dates way back, but this warm, almost honey coloured floor has a real modern feel to it.  A great way of making small spaces seem more voluminous and a nice neutral backdrop to any interior setting, this white washed oak floor is a great long-term investment option.

London white

This London white wood flooring has been UV oiled and is a great example of a floor with lots of depth and contrast.  If you look closely at the grain, you’ll see how light and dark combine to create a nice bright white effect but with a close up detail that’ll add plenty of interest to your room.

…and just to confuse matters even further, believe it or not, some grey wood floors look almost like white floors; so there really is a huge choice available to you.  Don’t let this put you off however, because at Wood and Beyond, we’re here to help you make the right decision for your project.
