Types of Rooms and How To Measure:
A. Standard Rooms - These are normal house rooms which are rectangular shaped.

1. Find the two widest parts of the room
2. Measure the length and width of the room using a tape measure (consider having another person help you at this stage)
3. Multiply the two measurements (in the above example, 4.5m x 6.5m = 29.25m2)
4. Allow an additional 5% to 8% for wastage (in this example, 29.25m2 + 8% = 31.59m2)
B. L Shape Rooms - These are rooms which have an attached room such as a living room with an open kitchen.

Room A:
1. Find the two widest parts of the room
2. Measure the length and width of the room using a tape measure (consider having another person help you at this stage)
3. Multiply the two measurements (in the above example, 4.5m x 6.5m = 29.25m2)
Room B:
1. Find the two widest parts of the room
2. Measure the length and width of the room using a tape measure (consider having another person help you at this stage)
3. Multiply the two measurements (in the above example, 2.5m x 6.5m = 16.25m2)
- Calculate the total m2 and allow an additional 8% for waste (in this example, 16.25m2 + 29.25m2 + 8% = 49.14m2)
C. Hallway Type Room - These are rooms which lead to additional rooms such as the house entrance leading to reception area and cloakroom.
