Wood decking adds best value to a home

Wood options such as hardwood decking represent the best way to get the "biggest bangs for your buck" when renovating a backyard.

This is according to the DIY Life blog, which warned that homeowners should look at all of the options available to them before making a final decision.

While wood decks need to be re-sealed every 12 months, because of the nature of the materials it is possible to change its style by sanding it down.

On top of this, the news provider praised the durability of the boards.

"If you're suffering from a bland concrete slab ... there are a number of outdoor decking and patio options that are easy to install," it said.

Alan Titchmarsh, a TV garden personality, recently said small backyards are ideal for decking.

The former Ground Force host added that if an outdoors space cannot be maintained with ease, then this option is perfect.
