Sitting in the garden 'is still important for people'

Posted on 14th Feb 2011 @ 4:32 PM

For couples looking to sell their home, investing in hardwood decking could make a difference in finding a buyer, as spending time outdoors relaxing is still important for people.

That is the assertion of Helen Elks-Smith, spokeswoman for the Society of Garden Designers, who said that whether it is to relax with a drink or to entertain friends and family with food, relaxing in the garden is an enjoyable pastime.

Investing in Iroko decking could therefore help people attract potential buyers who may appreciate a house which comes with a ready-made entertainment area outdoors.

"Sitting in the garden is still all important and almost everyone has morning coffee, lunch or supper sometimes cooking but often eating outside," Ms Elks-Smith added.

WWF ambassador Ben Fogle is urging those planning on investing in garden decking to look for products which are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council to help minimise their impact on the environment.
