Professionals to be used to install IPE decking?

Posted on 20th Apr 2011 @ 12:08 PM

Tasks such as installing IPE decking should not be carried out by DIY enthusiasts.

John Russell, building expert for Channel 5's Cowboy Builders, said individuals should do everything in their power to avoid a DIY catastrophe.

"What may seem an achievable task can end up costing hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds to put right," he added.

Because of this, those opting for decking would be well advised to get tradesmen in to complete the task and do the wood justice.

While homeowners can re-sand and refinish the products over the years to ensure it is always looking in tip-top shape, they should not overstretch themselves.

According to a MyHammer study, some 33 per cent have a garden overhaul in mind in the next 12 months.

Gerrit Mueller, chief operating officer and general manager international of the organisation, said a professional job will save money in the long run.
