Individuals who decide against installing hardwood floors will just be reducing the overall value of their property.
While people may feel like they are making the right move at the time, further down the line they will regret not plumping for the top-of-the-range product, Patch.com reports.
The news provider remarked the most likely homeowners to fall into the trap of getting low-quality flooring in favour of the more durable options out there are first-time buyers and landlords.
Elizabeth Sincox of HGTV added: "[I've] had buyers ... tell me they would have bought the house if only it had real genuine hardwood floors. Laminate floors aren't fooling anyone. We all know they're not real."
This means those who have resale value in mind - and also want to make sure their property is as good looking as possible - should consider getting a hardwood laid when they decide to change a surface.
