People need to consider their lifestyle when they are choosing a wooden floor, one expert has claimed.
Yvonne Beeksma, manager of Delta Carpets, told the Delta Optimist that people need to be realistic about what they think "will work" in their homes, which could see some pick hardwood flooring.
She noted there is a growing trend towards people wanting eco-friendly options when it comes to choosing new flooring for their surfaces.
"As consumers, we're all very aware of our world ... we want to make conscious decisions," Ms Beeksma remarked.
Responsibly harvested cork and renewable bamboo are two options that may appeal to people, as these have environmentally-friendly aspects to them.
Ms Beeksma stated ultimately homeowners should bring samples home and see how they fit in their property before making a final decision on what to opt for.
One room they could install solid flooring in is a conservatory, as Andrew Leech, spokesman for the National Home Improvement Council, said it is a good way to add extra space to a dwelling.
