High-quality hardwood flooring is expected to be a design trend in 2011, one expert has claimed.
Stefan Zachary, founder of Zachary Design, noted people seem to be interested in investing in products that will bring durability.
Because of this, a wooden floor is an option that may become increasingly popular with homeowners, as the added expense can be recouped with the extra years of service it will give a house.
Mr Zachary observed the recession has "focused people's minds" on how interior design can be used to improve a dwelling.
"Every penny spent on your existing property is seen as an investment and something you will get a return on," he added.
And this has led to an increase in individuals opting for solid flooring as opposed to carpets.
Keith Paul, recently writing for Ann Arbor, said a well-finished oak flooring can look brilliant and improve the vibe of a room.
