Environmental benefits may attract people to hardwood floors

People could be tempted to install hardwood floors because of the environmental benefits the material possesses.

With 100 per cent wood used in the construction process, it is not only durable but comes from a natural source.

On top of this, hardwoods are a much more serviceable product than its rivals, as each board can be refinished on a number of occasions.

Because of this, many individuals may choose it over other options, such as carpets or vinyl.

Homeowners should be looking to be "green from the ground up" when it comes to the installation of flooring.

This is according to Chip Wade, a DIY expert who has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show and Designed to Sell.

He added that once the correct colour has been picked for the walls to accommodate the floor - with Wade recommending a calming beige or grey - measures should be taken to ensure the ground stays clean.
