Engineered flooring 'can be installed by DIY fans'

Posted on 29th Mar 2011 @ 11:56 AM

DIY enthusiasts can install engineered flooring if they put their minds to it.

Joe Truini, a former carpenter who now writes self-help books, told the Lichfield County Times that the last ten years have brought about an "explosion" in flooring materials for fans of DIY.

"I try to inspire and encourage homeowners to tackle their own home repair and improvement projects, even if it means not completing the entire job," he added.

One of the projects Mr Truini has written about is engineered flooring, which he laid himself in his own home and he is keen to debunk myths about how hard these kinds of products are to install.

The specialist observed that with each scheme people take part in, they will learn a little bit more and so will be able to do extra work the next time around.

It comes after Flooring News said engineered wood brings certain ecological benefits that other options do not.
