One of the most important considerations when purchasing hardwood flooring is the colour, with several industry figures recommending couples stick to versatile and classic tones rather than those which are part of a fad.
Floor Daily questioned five high-end residential designers about what makes a wooden floor so special and they noted that the choice of colour is critical if it is to have the desired effect.
Maria Killam, from the Colour Me Happy blog, stated that "medium-brown oak flooring has been around for many years and is still current", while "dark espresso brown floors, which are instantly dated and show every little speck of dust" are not so great.
The designer added that opting for traditional solid flooring may also help the chances of selling the home in the future, as there is a greater likelihood that it will fit in with the prospective buyer's interiors scheme.
According to the Woodboys Blog, some people prefer the impact that dark hardwood flooring has on the home and for those who want understated beauty, it is a good option.
