Those who want a wooden floor which creates an inviting yet formal look should opt for darker hardwood flooring as opposed to those in lighter shades, it has been claimed.
According to the Woodboys Blog, some people prefer the impact that dark hardwood flooring has on the home and for those who want understated beauty, it is a good option.
The source described dark flooring as helping to "bring warmth and create a more formal look" in the home, however, dark solid flooring also has its downsides which must be taken into consideration.
"Dust is a lot more visible as well as light surface scratches," the source went on to add.
Another tone couples may wish to bear in mind is grey oak flooring, which has become very fashionable.
Interior design guru Nicky Haslam told the London Evening Standard recently that increasing numbers of couples are looking into installing this colour of wooden floor.
