Bamboo Worktops

Officially classified as a grass, bamboo plants grow so big that they are now commonly thought of as trees which produce bamboo wood.   One of the fastest growing plants in the world, it is acknowledged as a particularly eco friendly product and is native to Asia, Australia, Africa and India as well as both north and south America.  With parts of the plant being particularly hard, it’s wood is well suited to flooring, worktops and other joinery uses.

When used for flooring, worktops and furniture, it takes on all the characteristics of wood as well as being recognised as a durable and strong raw material.  Commonly offered in its natural light to golden tones, it is also available in what’s known as a carbonised state, in which it has been subject to high pressure and heat. This pressure and heat causes its fibres to carbonise and take on a darker colour.

When transformed into worktops, it is generally available in both dark and light colourways.  Favoured and selected by anyone seeking an environmentally friendly kitchen solution, these worktops can be introduced to create a real focal point.  Made using staves (horizontally or vertically fixed together), bamboo worktops are generally supplied untreated, so you can choose the most appropriate finish to suit your overall kitchen design and styling.  So if you’re looking for an affordable, unusual and stylish kitchen solution, these might be just right for you.
