With new home improvement blogs being launched every day, the Top 5 UK Home Improvement Blog “list” is something which is for ever up for discussion. That said, like all things, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and what one person might consider to be a great blog, another might think of as a complete waste of space! In this post, we’ve picked our Top 5 UK Home Improvement Blogs and want to share with you the joy we get from these blogs. Here they are:
UK Energy Saving Blog - In today’s tough economic climate, there’s no doubt that saving energy and reducing fuel bills is high on all our agendas. This blog offers common-sense ways of saving money on fuel as well as things you can do to make your home more energy efficient. It also contains an up to date list of events and suppliers of both “green” and traditional forms of energy. It’s well worth checking out.
The UKTV blog – Is a great “one-stop-shop” for anyone embarking on a home improvement project for the first time. Neatly split into Rooms, Design Ideas, DIY, Gardens and Crafts, the blog is a piece of cake to navigate and has a forum where you can “ask the experts” for advice. This is a great blog, completely packed with useful information and plenty of familiar faces. It’s only slight downside is that to get full benefits, you need to register, which might give rise to unwanted publicity in your email box.
DIY Conservatories – With the property market staying in its “sleepy” state, more and more people are looking to extend upwards and outwards rather than moving on to a new house. Although a conservatory is only one way of achieving additional living space, this blog provides common sense, down to earth advice on what you need to consider when extending and how to go about the process, making it ideal for anyone exploring the opportunities.
Problem Solved – Although this blog’s purpose in life is to give you access to trades people, it is completely jam-packed with useful tips and hints to help you with your home improvement projects and to stay on top of general home maintenance duties. Presented in an easy to navigate format, this blog truly has something for everyone.
Remodelista - Even though this one’s a bit of a cheat (because it’s not a UK blog), we simply had to add it to our list because we just love this blog. With a classy magazine look, the blog is written with humour, love and imagination. Littered with superb glossy photos, it’s the perfect way to get inspired if you’re struggling to find ideas.
What do you think, have we missed any?

Hi,
{{ With the property market staying in its “sleepy” state, more and more people are looking to extend upwards and outwards rather than moving on to a new house.}}
That description under your heading DIY Conservatories is so true.
Although I am a little biased in favouring a loft conversion over a conservatory, as it’s my thing. I feel in today’s financial climate UK home owners get a much better return on their money by adding an extra bedroom rather than a garden room these days.
Which of course is born out by reports from the top Building Societies stating that a loft conversion can add [in some areas of the UK] a whopping 23% to the value of the property, way to go !
Thanks
Mike
